Empowering change through eco-literary advocacy
When the stories we’re told stop making sense, it’s time to question the system behind them.
Stress and anxiety about the ecological crisis and its impact on our lives is now common across the globe - whether you’re an individual, organisation, corporation, or educational institution.
Much of this comes from a lack of understanding, ever-changing regulations, and an abundance of stories of doom and gloom.
But what if a better world could exist through a better vocabulary?
“When we change our daily lives—the way we think, speak and act—we change the world”
-Thich Nhat Hanh
Language plays a big role in how we and others perceive the world. What if all this confusion and helplessness could be rewritten into accessible, actionable knowledge?
Imagine if we stopped calling Earth earth, and called her Mother Earth instead? Imagine if we didn’t call minerals, coal, fossil fuels, and wood resources, and called them gifts instead.
What would that world look like?
I’m working towards creating that better world here at The Eco Chapter with words as the catalyst for systemic change - because if you change your words, you can really change your world.
Hi! I’m Marla Lise, the earthling running The Eco Chapter.
